The Seafood Ethics Action (SEA) Alliance has created the Anchoring Due Diligence six-part webinar series to provide support and guidance for seafood businesses. This is an integral part of the SEA Alliance’s aim to increase alignment on effective due diligence processes, and increase the implementation of impactful approaches to address human rights risks.
The first introductory webinar in the series took place on 22 September 2022. This set the context for Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) to explain what it is and why companies should engage with this programme of work.
The second webinar in the series took place on Thursday 20 October 2022. This webinar looked more closely at how businesses can identify and assess potential Human Right Due Diligence (HRDD) risks in their supply chain(s). It then focussed on what steps they should take to remediate, and address those risks.
The third webinar is taking place on Thursday 1 December 2022. This webinar will look at how responsible recruitment fits in, and relates to, Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD). It will look at the ‘supply chain of people’. This will cover what the recruitment journey looks like the migration related risks, and look at how recruitment fees are connected to forced labour. It will also cover the employer pays principle, mitigation and remediation.
We encourage the widespread sharing of this information internally with management, leadership and procurement teams to build awareness on these core topics and to generate internal champions that can support the business in operationalising HRDD.
